I'm Alex. Based in Tauranga. I build with AI. That's why I move fast and keep costs honest.
I've got a computer science degree from the University of Waikato, and I used to work for a local tech company. Until life threw me a curveball and I had to change direction. Being present for my kids became the priority. Everything else adjusted around that.
My curiosity about technology hasn't switched off since I first got near a computer.
If anything, it's gotten worse.

/02The longer version
I came from Mexico. Been in New Zealand since 2008. I'm a solo dad with two kids. Currently building a handful of things at once because that's just how my brain works.
At home it's me and the kids. One household, one non-negotiable deadline every weekday: the school gate at 3pm. That constraint shapes how I build everything — fast, AI-assisted, no process that needs babysitting.
I watch too many UFO documentaries. My girlfriend keeps me updated on my astrology sign. I'm a Capricorn, which apparently means I'm in it for the long game. She says this explains a lot.
/03Why I started this
I started Bay Smart Solutions because I kept watching small NZ businesses get stuck: cafés, coaches, tradies, solopreneurs. Either the price didn't make sense and they walked away with nothing, or they DIY'd something that looked like it.
That gap shouldn't be that wide. With the right tools and someone who actually shows up, it isn't.
